Fabric plays a vital role in any type of clothing material but it becomes more important when it comes to a corporate uniform. A standard quality uniform is very important because:
the employees wearing them will represent the company
uniform injects a formal attitude in employees as well
good quality fabric is crucial for a long-lasting wardrobe.
When designing a uniform for your brand, it’s important to choose from a fabric that is durable enough to last more than a couple of seasons.
It’s equally important to consider the person who will be finally wearing it. The person or employee should feel good once they put the fabric on the skin.
Keeping the importance of fabrics in mind, we would suggest a few types of fabrics that work best for corporate uniforms:
Polyester Viscose and Acrylic Yarns
It is a polymer made from a by-product of the petroleum industry. Unlike cotton, one doesn’t need to worry about creasing in a polyester uniform due to its strong resistance to the crease. This fabric helps to draw moisture away from the body and disperse it to the outside air, keeping the wearer cooler and drier in hot conditions. It is also relatively quick-drying, light and relatively cheaper than cotton.
Cotton and Wool
These fibers are well known for their softness. These are comfortable and highly preferred around the world. Since they are natural, they are perceived to be ‘better’ and kinder to the ecology of the world.
However, the drawbacks of natural fibers are that they:
crease easily
they lose their shape fairly readily
tend to fade their colours when washed in modern washing detergents
are more expensive than polyester
Therefore, it’s suggested to choose the fabric of your uniform keeping in mind the working condition and the location of the workplace. It’s also important to remember that the more attractive and comfortable the uniform will be, the more likely your staff will be to treat it with care.
